This project was a real challenge: how to use shock value to show users their year in plastic. Obviously, there was no way a browser could handle the amount of plastic (3D models) a single person uses, hence optimization played a main role
The Corona Plastic Reality AR experience is designed to teach consumers about their annual plastic waste and guide them on how to lower their plastic use. By taking a six-question quiz, they can calculate their average plastic consumption, which is then visually represented in their own house.
We decided to create a complex WebAR experience with multiple layers and 360-degree video. Initially, the garbage accumulates in the user’s home setting. Then, a portal takes them to a beach. We paid close attention to the design and motion of the 3D plastic items: How would they pile up? How would they sway in the wind? How they behave in custom environment?
