I found the project particularly interesting as it required a variety of skillsets: Unity, Web, Backend, Frontend, and Hardware, integrated into multiple steps experience.
Right before the Rugby World Cup 2023, Meta wanted to build excitement amongst fans with a wow-factor using their latest headset, Oculus 2. As part of the Rugby World Cup France 2023 exhibition train tour, the experience traveled around 51 cities in France and brought thousands of fans to French train stations.
This two-player event took fans onto the field to meet the French rugby team, represented as life-sized digital team members. Instead of using controllers, we implemented hand gestures to fist bump and high five the players. Raising their arms would trigger crowd cheers and a heartfelt singing of the French National Anthem. All of this was supported by bespoke exportable avatars creator and microsite with your own sharable asset! picturing your avatar in real 3d environment.
